Puppy Love

Face Book can be a good thing.A long time friend of mine posted a photo of some puppies and their momma dog. She stated that she found them abandoned behind a church, can you imagine that UGH People are so evil!

Anyway she being a kind soul brought all 6 puppies and momma dog home. I saw the FB post and immediately gave her some rescue numbers. This was Sunday night, she had to go into work very early on Monday so I asked her if I could call a Westie Rescue place as I thought the Mom was part Westie

So this morning at 9:30 I placed a call to the Head Rescue Chair for the Norther California Rescue Chapter. I also emailed her the photos and she immediately wanted to help. She already had an appointment that she could not miss and asked if I would not mind going to pick up the puppied and their mom. I made an appointment to the local vet and brought the puppies over, the rescue lady was there to meet me. All the puppies and the Mom checked out great they are all healthy and in good shape.

But it turns out we do not think she is part Westie, maybe a bit Carin?? The Rescue Lady wanted to still help anyway =)

Next was the task of finding them a place to stay till they could get weened from their Momma. We called at least 6 places and nobody would take these babies, the animal shelters would but told us they would euthanize the babies, our last call was to a boarding kennel that also raises and trains German Shepherds for the K-9 unit for the local police dept. They stayed open late for us and were so accommodating, truly the blessing we needed.

So Momma Trixie, who I named while she was riding in the car with me. Truly a VERY sweet dog and her 6 puppies are resting comfortably tonight. I know the puppies will all find a home, 3 are already spoken for. I hope it is easy for Trixie to get placed also. If I did not have a limit of two dogs on my lease where I live I would take her in a heartbeat. She is a doll!!

Here are a few photos of the puppies.
This is the biggest one of the bunch and all she wanted to do was cuddle with me

  1. That is such a sweet family. bless you all for helping them. It breaks my heart that someone would be so unkind as to not spay their dog, then let her get pregnant, and abandon her, but maybe this was kinder in their eyes than having her puppies euthanized. I will pray that everyone finds a good home.

  5. I don't understand how people can mistreat animals. I'm glad there are people like you who care and help. They are so darned cute that if I lived closer, I know one would come to live with me. :)
