A house is not a home

....Till you have a roof.

From A Stitchers Ramblings

I am coming along slowly on my current WIP "With One Accord" by Heartstring Primitive. I was kindly gifted this beautiful sampler along with the fabric AND floss by the ever so sweet Melissa from Words and Blooms

This is how the finished design will look

I want to thank those that took the time read and to those left comments on my last post about my sweet mom ;) I truly appreciate reading your comments, they made my heart smile. Today is a rainy day here in my neighborhood, I hope to get a few hours of stitching done, Hubby has to work for a bit today, so I will hope to have a few hours of uninterrupted stitching.

Have a lovely day dear friends!!

Today Is a VERY special Day

Today would have been my moms 68th birthday. She is dancing with the Angels but she is never far from my heart. Her life impacted many around her but especially me. I was the only girl and the baby. I was surrounded by "protectors" mainly my two older brothers and many watchful eyes. It was with her guidance that I never ventured into trouble. Even if I thought about it I always heard her voice in the back of my mind saying "Natasha you know this is not a good idea" but another reason I never got into trouble was because of all those watchful eyes, I could not get away with ANYTHING without her knowing about it before I walked through the front door

She was a wonderful mother and I always told her that when I had children of my own I would hope to be as great a mother as she was. Though I do not have any kids I still strive to be as great a lady as she was.

When friends came to her house there was always a pot of coffee brewing and something to eat. Our kitchen, small and humble was the gathering post for all the neighborhood woman. I saw alot of rummy card games go bad LOL I saw my brother break up with his girlfriend, and that is where I found out my grandfather passed away. That kitchen is also where I knew I would marry my then boyfriend. That same kitchen is also the place I sat after her death, sitting in her same chair, drinking a pot of coffee and crying because that awesome LADY was gone.

So Mom, know that I think of you everyday, miss you like crazy and know that I am so thankful you instilled great values and a good sense of humor in your baby girl.

Fabric junkie

So I had that beautiful spring like fabric picked out, but it was brought to my attention that I should maybe stitch the purse on some "less" expensive fabric first. So I stopped in at Joans today and picked up a yard each of this

Why is picking fabric such a tough choice?? HAHA!!

Word Verification UGH!!!

It seems as if alot of people are having a tough time with BLOGGERS new word verification format. I know for a fact I am having the hardest time figuring out the words. At first I thought I was going blind, LOL Nope my eye sight, though not the greatest, is just fine. It's this horrible verification thing.

So until it improves I am no longer going to ask posters to use that dreaded thing, I will however do comment moderation. So hopefully you all will continue to post to my blog. I do enjoy reading your comments.

diving into the world of sewing

I have a sewing machine, and it just sits there. Occasionally it gets used if I make and ornament, but for the most part it sits quietly tucked away in a cabinet patiently waiting for me to play with her.

Well today I meet a girlfriend at our local quilt store, I was initially looking for just a fat quarter of fabric. But then she showed me a cool pattern for a reversible tote bag. So I started hunting for some cool fabrics to make the tote.

I decided on a yard each of these fabrics. And some SULKY thread to sew with. What do you think?

Bothe green and the purple have hints of gold. I am excited but a tad nervous I've never sewed anything other than a flanged pillow.. Wish me luck :)

P.S The ever so Kind Jennifer from Feathers in the Nest is having a drawing for a pair of TESSA scissors. I am posting on my blog in hopes that I win hehe! Good luck!

A fine night of stitching

So I am not a huge Valentines Day fan. As a worker in the restaurant business it is the worst night to work other than Mothers Day and Fathers Day. I had the night off thankfully so I decided to pick up a nice bottle of champagne and have a night in with the HUBS

Here is how I spent my evening. Not a bad night :)

I want to thank those that stop by my blog and take the time to leave a comment. I love reading them and I am trying to be diligent about answering all of them :)

You know it's so funny because in my REAL life I am a talker but when it comes time to write a blog post it's like the cat has my tongue. I guess I am a better gaber than a writer But I hope you all enjoy my posts anyway.

Take Care and happy stitching!!

Rainy Day Stitching

Good Morning Dear Friends,

Monday morning rain, we are in some serious need of that wet stuff that falls from the sky here in the Bay Area. And our mountains are need of that white stuff, SNOW. Well it looks as if we are getting our wish. I woke up to showers this morning and got a Ski report on my phone that the mountains have 5" so far Wheeee.I haven't been skiing since Thanksgiving. :(

Mondays are always a good day for me, I don't have to go to work on Mondays. So today I am staying in. I have been fighting a cold for the last four days. So another day of rest will be great. Although I do need to do laundry and vacuum. But other than I think I will park my behind on my comfy couch and stitch till I can't see straight. HeHe!!

Here is what I am working on. This is a sampler I started many, many years ago, years before I knew about charts and picking your own fibers and floss. Before I knew about LINEN. I usually dislike AIDA, but since I have been sick with a head cold stitching on that larger count has been a blessing.

My Husbands cousin is having her second baby in August, so this will be framed for this little one.

I hope everyone has a good day!

A surprise gift

I received a package yesterday with a return address that I thought was familiar only because I have family from that area but when I opened the package this was inside.
From Friends Stitching Through The Seasons 2012

I am taking part in a year round stitching group and our partners are a secret until the first mailing date in March. But the person stitching for me decided to send me a birthday gift without revealing who they are :) I was VERY surprised and thrilled. What a wonderful gift. Thank you to my secret pal :)
