shocked and saddened

I am at such a loss of words right now I can't even think what to title this post. Shocked, saddened??? We had a mandatory meeting tonight at work which included front and back of the house, now in the restaurant business when a meeting like this is called including the front and BACK of house staff there must be something big going on....... An expansion, a menu change, or a new manager... I wish it was all those and more but I was so sad when she said " I am sorry this will be the last night that we will be opened"

I am sure you can imagine the shock we all felt. Some of these loyal people have been with this place for 20+ years. I worked for this place 5 years ago and then moved to California and when I decided to move back to South Carolina this was the first place I called and they took me back in a heartbeat.

Now I don't know what kind of things were happeing on the money side of things but I know how tough it is to manage a business in the food industry. I just wish we would have been given some notice of some kind. Enough to find another job. I am lucky I was on the lookout for another job and had an interview today so it was the stars lining up... I have never worked for a place where they just closed up shop, If you could keep my co-workers in your thoughts and prayers. I do hope that we all see that there is a silver lining and there is a light at the the end of the tunnel.......'

No stitching today, but I will have about three weeks free time until I start my job so I will be able to fit some XS in

  3. Shocking indeed! I wonder why they couldn't give some notice?
Thank goodness you had an interview lined up. I wish you luck with that and I'll keep your coworkers in my prayers.

  4. So sorry to hear of your sad news. I had that happen at one place I worked too, except that instead of having a meeting to tell us it was our last day, we all showed up to work the next day only to find the doors locked. Didn't even get the wages due to us. Will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. I wish you the best! That happened to my son, and him with a pregnant wife at the time! They showed up for work and they told everyone to go home, they were done!
