Good morning dear friends,
Happy Friday!! I am pleased to announce my first finish of the year. WooHoo! As I mentioned in a previous post my only stitching goal this year is to TRY and stitch the WIPs that have been laying around for a few years, There are about 4 that need finishing. But once they are finished I will be faced with the dilemma of what to stitch next. I always have a hard a hard time picking out my next project, usually because I am so indecisive over fabric and floss.....
When I started stitching it I knew right away that it was going to be a tribute to my Mom who passed away May 2004.You can see progress from that post Here So in place of the flowers I added her initials and date of birth. I used a piece of 28ct even weave and DMC.
I started this one on November 30th and finished Jan 8th.
I was asked by a girlfriend of mine if I would stitch this for her Boyfriend in honor of his best friend who passed away in an ATV accident. So I am going to start it all over again this weekend but I think in blue, gold and green. She is going to give it to the boys Mother.
I probably would have been finished a few days sooner but on News Years day and the day after I spent it winding floss. I had fun doing this, it was mindless and relaxing HaHa!
How do you store your DMC? Do you wind it? I use to keep like numbers in ziplock baggies but searching for that ONE floss is time consuming. This is way more efficient :)
Well that's all I have for today. I hope you all have a blessed and happy day.
Happy Stitching

brava, hai finito il primo ricamo del 2015, รจ bellissimo
ReplyDeleteThat tribute piece touched my heart as i lost my beloved sister a year ago after a long bout with brain cancer. You have done a beautiful job and may have started a memorial trend!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish--so nice to have floss organized and to be able to find that one color when you need it
ReplyDeleteYour stitching piece is precious!
ReplyDeleteI use bobbins also but keep any extra skeins in the ziplock bags until I need them.
Happy Stitching

Congratulations on your finish! What a lovely tribute to your Mom! Way to go on getting your floss on bobbins and organized. I have my DMC on bobbins and stored in one of the original jammer boxes. I do keep the extras skeins (in original form) in 'worm' boxes.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend!

That's a great first finish in this year. I love this series.
ReplyDeleteLove your 1st finish for 2015 and it is a lovely tribute to your mother !
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! I think it's great that you are stitching it again for your friend's mom. I store all my DMC in a jammer box. It's awesome. It took forever to wind all the floss though and those little stickers don't stick well on the plastic bobbins. I need to find a solution for that.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the pretty finish. I keep my floss on bobbins also.

I just love that finish, Natasha, and how nice of you to stitch one in other colors for your friend.
ReplyDeleteI store my DMC in tool boxes with lots of little drawers putting about five or six colors in each drawer. Seems to work for me :)
That is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI have posted about how I store my DMC a few months back. I do not wind them on bobbins.
Beautiful finish. My DMC is a mess. Don't ask. lol!
ReplyDeleteI wind mine on bobbins and keep them in plastic containers like yours. My containers are getting really full, though! Need to use my Christmas gift card and get a couple of more.
ReplyDeleteI wind my DMC on bobbins and keep them in a double sided matchbox car case I picked up at Wal-Mart. I still have quite a few left to wind but I'm hopeful I'll get that task finished this year. Beautiful finish!
ReplyDeleteI love that finish - so pretty! As for floss storage, I do the same as you for DMC. Every so often, I buy a bunch of DMC at once and just spend some time winding it. It's good for days that I want to be stitchy but not stitch, if that makes sense. I keep my specialty floss in floss bags on rings.
