Recluse???

A recluse is a person who lives in voluntary seclusion from the public and society, often close to nature. The word is from the Latin recludere, which means "shut up" or "sequester." There are many potential reasons for becoming a recluse: a personal philosophy that rejects consumer society; a mystical religious outlook that involves becoming a hermit or an anchorite; a survivalist may be practicing self-sufficiency; a criminal might hide away from people to avoid detection by police; or a misanthrope may be unable to tolerate human society. It can also be due to psychological reasons, such as posttraumatic stress disorder, apathy, an autism spectrum disorder, or avoidant personality disorder. A recluse can also be considered a loner.

Recluse,I have thought of this word latley and always associated it with someone out of controll but the corrrect deffinition is that of above... And I will admit I have fit that bill in 2011. But 2012 wil prove to be a a better year. Last year I had to overcome some small personal hurdles and during that time almost gave up on my stitching all together, but with some wise curt advice from a few fellow stitching friends I came to my senses haha

I have great stitching plans this year, if I can crank out 3 ornaments to hang on my tree next year I will be golden :0)
I will share a photo Wednesday.of.my.finishes

I have been enjoying my time off, I was able to hang out with a great friend on Monday. We seem to always talk more than stitch but it is always such fun catching.up.with her :o)

Take care and.happy stitching

Barbara over at To Stitch or Not to Stitch was holding a drawing a few weeks ago for a LHN chart and all the trimmings to finish it up. As luck would have it my name was pulled from the random generator :) How exciting!! I love LHN and Snowmen. Of course when it arrived I 1) snapped a quick photo and 2)started stitching on it right away. I am enjoying it so far, there is not a LHN chart that I have not enjoyed stitching, Here is a photo of the chart she also included a cute frame to hang on my tree. I think a picture of my two dogs will go in there :)

Thank you Barbara.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Gift Stitching

Christmas comes the same time every year but yet every year I am always late with my gifts that I want to stitch LOL I have about 6 ornaments all stitched up from last year so I am going to hopefully crank out the finishing this weekend in time to mail them off to family members.

EDITED 12/11 I had a bit to much Christmas Cheer at a holiday party last night so I have been planted on the couch with my heating pad and some hot tea. I am doubt full I will be stitching or finishing today, but tomorrow is another day :)

My SIL is a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan so I am stitching an ornament for her, let me say that gray#415 is the most boring color haha!

I want to share a few pictures of my Christmas tree this year. This was from my stitching partner this year, Kim is a wonderful stitcher

This ornament I bought at Neiman Marcus in 2005 during their day after Christmas sale. Thank goodness for 70% off is all I can say :)

This is one of my most treasured ornaments, it hung on my moms tree for 30+ years and now it has hung on my tree since 2006. It is an old German ornament and when you open it there is a Dollie inside with an old paper tag that says Germany.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday. Happy stitching friends :)

Memory Lane

December? What where did November go?? Oh well, no worries :)

Smells, Do you have a smell that just transports you and reminds you of your past? I do, and for me it is eucalyptus and fresh baked bread. Growing up everyone in my neighborhood played a roll in raising me. The saying "It takes a village" well that was us.

I grew up on the West side of Cleveland and was the baby in the family and the only girl, so need less to say I had many watchful eyes and could never get away with anything before my Mother got word.

I had many "Aunts" "Uncles" and "Grandmas" you know the type, not really blood family but they are your family anyway just cause they love you. Well Grandma Gerrie's house was like my second home, it always smelled like eucalyptus and fresh baked bread, and it still does 20+ years later and even after she has moved to another home it still feels like "home".

Grandma Gerrie is going to be 90 and I just wish I could keep her forever and bottle that smell to last me forever.

I am in a reminiscing mood and will probably be sharing more stories for the Christmas season and some stitching too :)

Take Care!

Good Wednesday Morning Friends

How is every ones Wednesday morning starting off? I hope where ever you are in the world life is being good to you. I myself am in high spirits today. I woke up this morning at 6:30. Since I was up that early I decided I should make great use of my time. So I whipped up two pumpkin rolls. I have been meaning to make these for a few weeks now. So I happy to have that crossed off my list today :)

On to some stitching news, I am moving along on my Snowman piece, stitching white can get alittle boring, I can't wait to move onto some color :)

Can anyone help me locate this pattern? I saw this stitched up by a fellow stitcher and just adore it.

Don't forget to check out my sale blog. I do trades also :)

Gobble Gobble Gulp!!!! Happy Friday!!

Happy Friday Friends!! I hope everybodys Thanksgiving was a day of thanks and good times. DH and I went out to dinner. Very unconventional for us, as I usually cook. But my husband, being as sweet as he is, said it was silly for me to spend all day cooking in the kitchen just for the two of us, so who am I to argue? Hehehe Trader Vics had a wonderful buffet and we also had a few Mai Tais. Best part was no dishes and no sneaking into the kitchen late at night to eat more turkey LOL

We came home around 2:30, got to watch the football games, those pesky Ravens beat the 49 ers', and watched and all the specials that were on tv. It truly was a wonderful day.

How many of you are shopping today? Or were crazy enough to go last night? that is said with much love :) I will be staying far far away from any stores for at least a week. I do have to work today so I know I will be busy, all the weary shoppers will be coming to me for drinks LOL

I did get some stitching time yesterday after I took an hour walk because I was so stuffed from dinner. Here is where I am so far on "PEACE" by Sam Sarah Designs

Mr snowman is getting lonely, hopefully I can stitch his mate tonight. Well folks that is all for today. Hope your Friday is a fun day!!

Feeling a bit FROSTY

It is a tad chilly here in the bay area and what are DH and I planning on doing? Driving up to Tahoe!! We were planning a quick ski trip, but they have not gotten alot of snow yet. A few resorts are open but the day we plan on skiing it is suppose to rain. *YUCK*

We are probably just going to hang out enjoy the mountain air and relax, something that my DH REALLY needs. And we are going to be pup free YAY!! We have our dog sitter staying with the furbabies. So it will trully be a relaxing few days.

I would like to show you my current WIP.

Peace by Sam Sarah Design

Broke down and turned the heat on.

My title says is all. It is a CHILLY morning here in the Bay Area. Brrrr!!! I finally had to give in and turn the heat on. The sight of my little dog shivering and my fingers about to fall off made me do it. of course I am exagerating a bit LOL.

I am almost finished stitching on my sweet Snowman. Then I just have to decide how I want to finish him. I wanted to share a few photos from my trip to Colorado this past summer.

View from our Cabin in Vail,Co

Chuck's Hut

How we spent the night, roasting marshmellows and having "girl" talks :)

Hike we did the following day on the way back to Denver

Lily Pad Lake
It was so great to visit my good friends and meet new ones. There 5 girls and 3 kids(3,5,7) staying in the cabin, made for a great time. I sure do miss living in Colorado. It is such a beautiful place, with many, many outdoor adventures :)

So that is my post ofr today, next time I will have a finished stitched piece to share. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Starting from scratch....A snowy picture

When I made the decision back in April to stop blogging, I also made the decision to delete my blog. And now looking back I wish I hadn't. I think back to ALL the wonderful posts I had, the great number of followers and all the wonderful comments that were left for me over the YEARS of blogging, I think I started it in 2005!!

Now I must rebuild this blog and hope it can be as great as it was before, but first I must stitch right? So without further ado, after MANY long months of not having any urge what so ever I give to you my current WIP

Lizzie Kate Snowman '10

I refuse to stitch on anything else until Mr Snowman is finished :) So that folks is what I have been up to. Well there has been alot more going on other than that but that will have to wait for another day.

Take care beautiful people and have a wonderful day!!!

Happy Halloween

I don't know what's scarier. Halloween or me FINALLY making a blog post LOL I have no idea how many are still following me, or even look at my tired BLOG. But I am trying to get back into the swing of things on the stitching front.

What has taken up all of my time you might ask? LIFE!! Sometimes it throws a curve ball at you and it just keeps coming. I am in a year long stitching exchange, that has been good, for not them I am sure I would not have stitched a lick.

I took a wonderful trip back in July to visit some girlfriends in Colorado. I was there for 5 glorious days, hiking, hanging out and having drinks at my favorite restarunt The Morrison Inn. They have THE best margaritas. Having one will make you do silly things.

We also stayed in the mountains for a night with 7 girls and three awesome kids. Hiking during the day and roasting marshmallows by the camp fire at night under a million stars. I will post photos on my next post.

For now I will leave you with our pumpkins we carved the other night, well I actually did all the work dear Hubby just made sure the pumpkin seeds tasted good LOL

Till next time friends I hope your day is filled with SPOOKTACULAR thrills.
